Wild Shadows
is a duo exhibition featuring the works of accomplished sculptors Barbara Weidell and Jessica Teckemeyer. The exhibition focuses on narrative media—artwork that tells a story through myth, religion, history, personal experience or social commentary. Weidell and Teckemeyer bring characters to life using animal imagery inspired by sources such as Greek and Irish mythology, current events and The Brothers Grimm fairy tales. A special highlight of the exhibition will take place during the Nov. 6 reception at the Melton Gallery, featuring Teckemeyer’s "Glowing Sphinx," an oversized illuminated inflatable based on her piece “A Sphinx in Wolf’s Clothing.”

Barbara Weidell is professor emeritus of art at Central, where she recently retired after more than 20 years as professor of sculpture in the Department of Art. Learn more about her work at bweidell.org. Jessica Teckemeyer is associate professor of sculpture at Oklahoma State University. Visit jteckemeyer.com to see more of her work.
