Shyanne Dickey is a senior at Oklahoma State University. She is a figurative oil painter whose subject matter features African American women farmers in western Kansas. Her work has been exhibited throughout Oklahoma at the OSU Orange Gallery in Stillwater, Momentum in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the OSU Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition, and the Tulsa Race Massacre Exhibition. Her work has been awarded several prizes: first place at the Celebration of Black Lives Exhibition at OSU, Honorable Mention at Momentum, and second place in the 2D division and 3D division for the OSU Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition.

Shyanne’s work is influenced heavily by African American heritage–she digs deep into rich ancestorial history that has not often been shared. The idea of celebrating the "Exodusters" (Ex-slaves that migrated to Kansas during the nineteenth century as part of the Exoduster Movement or the Exodus of 1879) she connects with her five-times great grandmother who serves as the matriarch for her family's success. Her work depicts her family, focusing on her mother and sisters, often shown in royal clothing and collaged historical surroundings.
