The March Show: Women's History Month Juried Exhibit
After several years of significant growth in our four juried exhibitions and seeing what an impact they have had on the artists that enter and participate, the PAA is excited to announce a new annual juried show. Each March, we will host an all medium visual exhibit centered around a different theme in the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center.
Our inaugural show will be themed in honor of Women’s History Month, and we could think of no one better to jury than our 2020 Artist of the Year, Marilyn Artus.
Artists of all genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, classes, ages and abilities are invited to submit original work. The theme is open to artist interpretation, but the following emphases should be considered when selecting and creating work:
• Work that explores, challenges and questions notions of beauty and femininity, gender identity and societal roles, and womanhood, in whatever form that may take.
• How feminism has changed the world, and how much work there is left to be done.
• Work that pays homage to the audacity and perseverance of women who have advanced the fight for women’s equality, whether that is a historical figure or someone in your own life.
It is not required, but artists are encouraged to submit a short statement with each of the works they submit for consideration.
