Art is a process. Frustrating, infuriating, inspiring, challenging, and beautifully rewarding.
Artist Statement
Creating an artwork to me isn't solely about the finished product, the processes and challenges that lead up to finishing an artwork as well as the experimentation is, to me, art in and of itself. As an artist I like to explore different pathways, materials, textures, and methodologies in creating art.
Artist Bio
Nathan McCullough studied fine art and art history at the University of Central Oklahoma and at Arizona State University. His focus as an artist is working in oils, acrylics, and various other media to create 2D works, inspired by history, nature, societal concerns, and by the human condition and figure. Nathan's influences range from the impressionists like Toulouse-Lautrec to the symbolists, expressionists, and surrealists like Gustave Klimt, Egon Schiele, and Salvador Dali. Nathan is also motivated by the process of creating his works and draws inspiration in experimenting with materials and mediums to find new solutions in the creative process.
