I am self taught, with agricultural roots, and inspired by working cowboys and ranchers, who are alive and well in our great state!
Artist Statement
I am a self-taught artist, born and raised in Ada, Oklahoma. I started painting a few years ago, shortly after retiring. My goals were simple - to have fun while learning something new, and to reconnect with my creative side. Little did I know of the passion for art I would find. With it's ability to blend and blur into endless beautiful hues, oil is my medium of choice. Subject matter is important to me, but I also love the freeing qualities of the abstract. To that end, I would describe my style as representational realism. I have agricultural roots, and a long standing love affair with the American Cowboy. Livestock and working cowboys find their way onto my canvas more often than not, but I am also inspired by wildlife, and the Native American people and their culture.
Today, I reside in Durant, Oklahoma, with my husband of 31 years, Roger, who has encouraged and accompanied me on this art journey. We love to travel, hike and explore, so inspiration is never far away.
