Artist Statement
Artist Bio
Janet Fadler Davie began creating wall art as a four-year-old drawing on paneling with a magic marker. By age nine she was taking formal lessons in oil painting. Since then she has become a well-known artist in Tulsa and beyond.
For more than 30 years she has brought museum-quality art into private homes and businesses throughout the Tulsa area and the country. Her artwork has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Homes, Southern Living, Tulsa World, and Tulsa People.
Janet's painting style hearkens back to the old European masters, using the Trompe L'oeil (to fool the eye) technique in many of her murals and decorative painting. Her subjects range from architectural features and provincial landscapes, to animals and still lifes. While she is best known for her commissioned sweeping wall murals, she also does decorative painting on furniture. Her recents works include oil and acrylic paintings executed in a colorful, painterly style with the subject matter depicting the City of Tulsa skyline to a "bicycle forest."
Janet participates in the Tulsa Designer Showcase, Tulsa Area Community Food Bank Empty Bowls, and has volunteered as an artist-in-residence at Iron Gate. She is a committee member on OVAC's Tulsa Art Studio tour, and a Board Member at Tulsa Artists Coalition. She also donates her art to a variety of local causes and charity fundraisers.
