Getting outside is good for the soul. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in.
The metal I use in my sculpture has usually spent many years operating outside through some kind of machine or tool then abandoned.
I aim to capture the tones and textures time has applied to this medium and offer a new life that can be viewed and enjoyed for many years to follow.
Australian native Stephen Schwark has been creating metal sculptures for over 15 years and has been fortunate enough to have sold his work all over the globe.
Schwark draws his inspiration from the perfection of the natural world and the depths of human imagination. He specializes in exploiting the true visual potential each piece of metal withholds within a sculpture, not just relying on its natural form.
Schwark has developed a variety of techniques through the use of heat and advanced corrosion that showcase a true celebration of the purity of his medium.
By using reclaimed metal within his sculptures he also is able to draw awareness and attention to sustainability in an ever-growing consumer world.
