“ Seeing art as a form of energy, I direct my creative endeavors to help rise the the collective consciousness of humanity ”
In the most obvious or subconscious levels, we are all co-creating humanity. And so, seeing art as a form of energy, I direct my creative endeavors to rise the collective consciousness of humanity. I base my creative process on my theses “Creative Consciousness-The Art of Allowance”, “Intuitive Enlightenment”, and “Dimensions of Creation” My artistic endeavors aim to be channels to talk to, inspire action, and be of service to humanity; by living, expressing, and sharing the adventure of conscious creation. In conception and evolution, my outlook on art is visceral audacity and abundance that flourish; consciousness and materiality where all possibilities already exist. My working process heavily rest on my craftsmanship and is a combination of ceramics, sculpture, art installations and engineering. Each piece is assembled in multiple parts with the intention of creating greater complexity of forms. I also work in large formats which require tremendous energy, audacity, and a greater understanding of proportions. When I work in large formats, I paradoxically experience a sense of freedom and authority over my art. The physical materialization of my art resembles layers of information, and a micro-macro cosmos, with characteristics attributed to an alternate universe.
Born in Mexico City, Rafael Corzo studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (BFA, 2012) and The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (MFA, 2015).
With the theses “Creative Consciousness-The Art of Allowance”, “Intuitive Enlightenment”, and “Dimensions of Creation”, Corzo’s creations are layers of information, and a micro-macro cosmos, with characteristics attributed to an alternate universe where all possibilities already exist. Totally ambidextrous, Corzo’s creations expand to ceramics, drawing, painting, watercolor, sculpture, installations, metal casting, and neon light. He can also draw, paint, and write with the left foot and writes backwards. In the further development of his creative mind, Corzo is actively seeking understanding of lucid dreaming, astral projection, and the full awakening and potential of the pineal gland or third eye. Currently, Rafael Corzo is part of the Tulsa Artist Fellowship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
