McKenna's work is largely process-driven, joyful and colorful. Her explorations as an artist are fairly recent. She approaches her artwork through play and experimentation, and she enjoys diving in to new media and techniques. Her work is largely based on a practice of flow, which she honed in graduate school through her thesis work. Her recent work is largely focused on handmade papercuts and mural work, and she is excited about exploring intricate, yet fully connected compositions that culminate in psychedelic wonderlands full of flowers and abstract shapes.
