
McKenna's work is largely process-driven, joyful and colorful. Her current focus in art is papercuts and murals. She approaches her work through play and experimentation with a focus on psychedelic shapes and florals.
Artist Statement
McKenna's work is largely process-driven, joyful and colorful. Her explorations as an artist are fairly recent. She approaches her artwork through play and experimentation, and she enjoys diving in to new media and techniques. Her work is largely based on a practice of flow, which she honed in graduate school through her thesis work. Her recent work is largely focused on handmade papercuts and mural work, and she is excited about exploring intricate, yet fully connected compositions that culminate in psychedelic wonderlands full of flowers and abstract shapes.
Artist Bio
McKenna Sanderson is an award-winning, professional graphic designer and educator. She holds a BFA from UCO School of Design and an MFA in Graphic Design from Maryland Institute College of Art. She is a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor at UCO School of Design, she co-owns the design studio, WTRMLN Creative, and she enjoys being a muralist and papercut artist in her free time.
