I am a lover of color.

Artist Bio

Kira Frisby has been making glass beads (lampworking) for over 20 years. She has studied under Sage and Tom Holland, known as the pioneers in what is generally called The Contemporary American Glass Bead making movement. Lampworking, the art of melting glass and creating beads, is over 4000 years old and holds a strong meaning in multiple cultures. Kira taught lampworking and Prairie Arts Center (formally Multi-Art Center) in Stillwater, OK and has given lampworking demonstrations throughout the community. Additional components that Kira uses in her jewelry are recycled and vintage findings, stone, wood, 14k gold-filled and sterling silver chain, and resin. Kira is also a Registered Nurse and has a Masters Degree in Trauma and Resiliency in Educational Settings. She works at Oklahoma State University as the Coordinator of Student Case Management.
