Artist Statement
My experiences thus far with glass have been lessons on equipping myself with the basic building blocks of life. Those being patience, perseverance, kindness, honesty, and authenticity. To break down complex concepts to their most basic elements and techniques by starting small, and gradually building on ideas that capture my imagination, and reflect my desire to share and create connections with others. And hopefully in return inspire them to do the same. My work for my first five years lacked a voice or direction, but for the past two I have been able to embrace the kind of person I would like to grow into. As the pieces grow larger, would like the think, that it is I who is becoming more myself. It is a gift I wish every to have, and also be able to express.
Artist Bio
I have been working in glass since 2013 in a variety of areas such as flame working, stained glass, fused glass, and hot shop. Due to the lack of access to glass education here in Oklahoma I traveled around the country for a few years during spring and fall picking up tips, and tricks with anyone who would teach me. I would bring those ideas home with me and work on them during peak summer, and dead of winter. I currently do similar work, but now am paid to travel across the country as a studio technician at craft schools providing safe and inviting environments for students to learn in. And I am very lucky to also be able to learn from the amazing instructors, and students during each session.
