Love and Soul on Canvas
Artist Statement
The power to tap into one's imagination, assemble and idea and bring it to life on canvas is magical and gratifying. Each artwork is an opportunity to understand the materials better and understand the light and movement of paint. The smell of the media, the feel of the paintbrush in hand, the various textures and flow of paint is fascinating. Through music, meditation, drawing from life experiences and connecting with nature, the creation of art becomes a full body experience. There is a depth and a story behind every artwork.
Artist Bio
Born and raised in Alva, Oklahoma, Connie graduated from Alva High School and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. Connie's experiences in public school and university art classes planted a lifelong love for the creation of art. Connie had various careers in business and consulting prior to her art journey.
For the past 20 years, Connie has owned and operated The Fifthsister Art Gallery and Studio in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She creates full-time using digital, acrylic and oil medium. The diversity of creating abstract and realism pieces keep the artwork fresh, interest and challenging. The movement of energy from the careful replication of representational pieces to the loose, unintentional works in abstract creations mirror Connie's whimsical, yet contemplative nature.
She has displayed at the Graceful Arts Center in Alva, Oklahoma; in the Panache Gallery in Mendocino, California; at the Hutchinson Art Center in Hutchinson, Kansas and with The Oklahoma Art Guild in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Connie won First And People's Choice awards in the NWOSU Art Society Art Show in 2018.
