As it rotates around a central point, a spiral can simultaneously appear to ascend and descend. These opposing interpretations fight, back and forth, but neither is more true than the other. Just as the spiral is a symbol for this contradiction, so are my images for contradictory experiences in my life. In a single experience, there can exist an introspective, inward screw into anxiety; and at the same time, an outward, unwinding twist into joyous wonderment.

My images are stages for protagonists to experience my past, present, and future. The protagonists and their surrounding environments within my images are depicted whimsically, but they are fraught with a hidden uncertainty and loneliness. Noticing the small intricacies of the world can be so intensely beautiful. However, even at the peak of this beauty, there is a certain horror in being alive, small, and insignificant. Existential, but humorous; Nihilistic, yet optimistic.
