Artist Statement
I use my artwork as a way to express and capture human emotions. Abstract expressionism allows me the freedom and speed required to capture bursts of emotions with the versatility of the style. My intention with the work is to expel emotions on the canvas regardless of what the emotion might hold.
To mimic the complexity of emotions, I use layering techniques to show emotions are not singular and can oftentimes be layered on top of the emotional history of each human’s experience.
I mix soft and sharp markings and paint strokes to portray that emotions can also be conflicting and still coexist harmoniously.
My intent is to create work that communicates feelings through the use of color, texture, and techniques.
