I work as a painter, illustrator and designer to test and explore my skills and my ability to visualize an idea.
Artist Statement
My work is influenced by the art sources I've been visually drawn to in my life. This includes my favorite comic book artists who inspired me to draw ideas as a boy and art classes in my academic training. The work I create as a painter, illustrator and designer becomes an exploration of my skills and my ability to visualize an idea.
I like to use colors that are bright and dramatic. I also add surreal and impressionistic elements into my work. For me the piece I am working on should have a visual flow to it to give the viewer a feeling of motion to it. The theme of the piece influences my mood as I create it and I think that comes through in the color choices I make. In the end, if the viewer enjoys visually going into the art for a moment the way I do when I'm working on it then I call that work a ‘success’.
Artist Bio
I am a life-long resident of Oklahoma and I have been an artist in one form or another since my youth. My professional training was split between fine art and graphic design. I moved into a career as a graphic designer while continuing to create art in my spare time. I have several mediums I work in from digital to paint and choose which medium based on the theme of the piece I am working on. I am a proud Chickasaw artist and have shown or donated work to several tribal events. I hope to continue to contribute my talents to Native American arts and other art styles in Oklahoma.
