Grants & Fellowships

The Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Grants program was created to:
-Assist Oklahoma artists in the creation of works of visual art.
-Assist Oklahoma artists in the professional development of their careers.
-Create opportunities to strengthen collaborations between artists, the arts community and other activities that relate art to communities in Oklahoma.

Who may apply?
  • Individuals who have been residents of Oklahoma for a minimum of one year prior to the application deadline and are residents at the time that the grant is awarded.
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the application.
  • Applicant may not be enrolled as a student in a degree-seeking program at time of application or during the grant period.
  • Artists who submitted a “Final Project Report” within 30 days from the completion of any previous grant awarded by OVAC to the artist. If not, current application will not be considered.


  • Grant Types

    Professional Basics Grant - $250 available (up to $500 if artist matches funds)
    -Help with the fundamental needs for getting started: quality images/slides, framing, shipping or website development.

    Education Grant - $500 maximum (artist must match funds)
    -For continuing education such as workshops and conferences.

    Creative Projects Grant - $900 maximum for initial proposal (additional marketing, planning services and financial support of up to $500 can be applied for same project after planning.)
    -For creating new work that will culminate in a public event focused on his or her artwork.

    Community/Artist Partnership (CAP) Grant - $1,200 maximum available
    -For projects where artists work with a nonprofit community organization.

    Deadlines: January 15, April 15, July 15, October 15
    Education Grants can be submitted on the 1st of each month.

    AWARDS

    OVAC Visual Arts Fellowship – Two awards of $5,000 each.

    These awards are intended to reward qualified artists with outstanding vision and are chosen by a guest curator from applications submitted by the artists. A new call to artists will be issued each spring.

    Recipients


    Photographer Josh Buss received a Creative Projects grant from OVAC for a project photographing the people and places of Roger Mills County.



    Artist Jane Aebersold received a Professional Basics grant from OVAC to scan and archive images of a lifetime of ceramic work.
