The 12x12 Art Show & Sale is the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s biggest annual fundraiser. Begun in 1990, the popular and well-established event supports programs such as curated exhibitions, grants, professional development workshops, young artist events and crucial publications.
12x12 Selection and Eligibility Criteria
Selection:
The purpose of the 12x12 Art Show & Sale is to raise as many funds as possible to support all of OVAC’s programs. It is also a fun event that features visual art sold in an unusual manner. The 12x12 is a fundraiser, not one of OVAC’s open call, representative programs. For this reason, the 12x12 artists are invited by a working group of the 12x12 Committee. OVAC has over 800 artist members, but only 140 can be featured in 12x12. The following are the selection criteria used to recruit artists for the event.
Artists that sold work the previous year and are still current members of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition are invited to submit to 12x12. At least 10% new artists are invited to participate in 12x12 each year and are chosen in April from the OVAC Virtual Gallery.
The 12x12 Committee will select new artists or renewing artists that didn’t sell the previous year based on diversity of media and/or range of styles. OVAC board members, OVAC staff and 12x12 Committee members who are artists will also be invited.
Eligibility:
Artists who are interested in being new participants in the fundraiser and have not been invited need to:
1. Join OVAC.
2. Have artwork on the Virtual Gallery,
www.ovacgallery.com.
3. Email their interest to
director@ovac-ok.org by mid April.
Artists who turn in work late or do not follow event protocol will not be asked to participate and will not be invited to participate the following year.
