Hello I am Marilyn Artus. I create works using embroidery in a contemporary way.
I come from a heritage of women that have created needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery and petipoint and I just can’t get it out of my blood. I am the first of my family line to create my own designs. I love pop art and all things female and whimsical.
I was raised in Norman, Oklahoma. I have a Fine Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma. I am one of the founders of The Girlie Show, an all female annual art show in Oklahoma City. I also founded the Oklahoma City branch of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School in 2009. I was a commercial artist for years and have gone back to my fine arts roots.
