I was born in Japan and currently studying in East Central University. My current work represents this using a mixture of western and eastern cultures. My grandmother is Buddhist and since I was young, this religion has been a big part of my life. For some people in today’s generation, Buddha is not necessarily seen as a image of belief but more of a symbol of a pop culture. I have carved the image of Buddha and Japanese textiles which are used in architecture and kimonos in my art works. These unique decorations of Japanese temples and kimono textiles are things I am fascinated with. I chose to use found objects because of the industrial waste that those objects represent. I decided to recycle those objects as an example of my belief in ecology.
