12x12

The annual 12x12 Art Show & Sale, held on Saturday, September 29, raised $60,672 for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC). Setting a record for the event’s 18 year history, the funds raised will support OVAC’s many programs for Oklahoma artists.

Over 1,000 people were in attendance for the evening’s events and 90% of the featured artwork was sold. The exhibition was comprised of a variety of work by Oklahoma artists including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, drawing and ceramics, all measuring no more than 12 by 12 inches. Artists received a percentage of the sale of their work, as OVAC believes in creating opportunities for artists. Many artists choose to donate their portion of the sale back to OVAC in support of the organization. Over $9,000 in commissions from the sale of artworks will be paid directly to artists.

Julia Kirt, Executive Director of OVAC, said of the event, “We couldn’t have asked for better support for artists from the community. We are thrilled that so many people recognized the talented artists by attending and buying art in record numbers.”

Guests at the event enjoyed food from over 20 of Oklahoma City’s greatest restaurants as well as music by Robbie Melendez and The Convoy. The success of the 12x12 was made possible by generous community sponsors. The Headline Sponsor was Chesapeake Energy.
