For one-night only a historic downtown warehouse illuminates with 150 Oklahoma artists’ work for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s 12x12 Art Show & Sale on September 25, 2010, beginning at 7:00 pm. The Fred Jones Industries Building, 900 W. Main in downtown Oklahoma City (map), hosts the temporary gallery and party in the former manufacturing plant.

The 12x12 Art Show & Sale provides an evening of art by some of Oklahoma’s finest artists, live music, delectable food and fun. Audiences look forward to surprise entertainment, such as the 2009 appearance of the Millwood High School drum line and a rock string quartet.

Many art lovers begin or grow their art collection at this event. With 150 Oklahoma artists participating, a wide variety of styles and media are represented. Each artist submits one artwork that is twelve-by-twelve-inches or smaller.

The artwork is sold in a silent and blind auction, meaning bidders will not know what others have bid. Bids for each piece begin at $168. Collectors who fear losing a piece of art in the auction may “Buy It Now” to trump the auction. Funds raised from the sale of art will support OVAC programs statewide such as curated exhibitions, grants, professional development workshops, young artist events and crucial publications.

The 2009 12x12 raised over $60,000 through sponsorships and art sales with more than 1,000 in attendance. This year .Margo Shultes von Schlageter and Sam Fulkerson chair the volunteer 12x12 Committee.

Preview the art in the gallery in the lobby of Leadership Square, 211 N. Robinson, September 1-20. To see the exhibition in its entirety, art lovers will have to attend the one-night event.

Tickets to the 12x12 Art Show & Sale will be available in early September by phone at 405-879-2400 or online here. Tickets will also be available at the following outlets: Full Circle Bookstore, New Leaf Florist, Sara Sara Cupcakes and Guestroom Records (OKC & Norman). Tickets are $24 in advance and $30 at the door.

Dress for the party is evening casual and drinks will be served from a cash bar. Food is provided by 30 area restaurants.
